Elderly & Visitation Ministries

The heart of our parish community is friendship and service. The Love for God and neighbor brings us together for ministry and companionship. Newcomers are always welcome.

Visitation to the Sick, Elderly & Homebound

Our Priests visit several area nursing homes each month where they celebrate the Eucharist, Anoint the Sick, and offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Although area hospitals are visited by other parish priests, our priests will visit parishioners of St. Cecilia if they are notified of an admission.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs) make hundreds of visits monthly to private homes and nursing homes, bringing Holy Communion, offering prayer, comfort, conversation, and leading prayer and rosary services. Our Lord said, “I was sick and you visited Me,” and the presence of our loving priests and volunteers remind the residents and patients that they are never forgotten and remain treasured members of the church community.

(A donation of canned goods offered for the needy is appreciated.) Come and make new friends and enjoy a bit of laughter and fun. The dates for the Lunch Bunch this year are:

The Prayer Shawl Ministry

The ‘Craft and Chat’ group creates beautiful shawls for the sick and elderly who are residing in nursing homes. Stitched with love by praying hands, shawls are blessed at Mass before distribution and continue to remind the recipients that they are cherished members of Christ’s Church.
